Laid Off
On the last day of April, at 4pm, I was informed that my services were no longer needed at the company. It was not a complete surprise by any means, as it had seemed for a while like it was not the best fit. Now, I'm cleaning up the house a bit and getting started on the next job search. If you have suggestions about where I should look for work, or, more generally, what I should do with my free time, please let me know.

Oh, just checked your blog for the first time in a while and saw this. I'm sorry to hear it. But I know it means a better fit is ahead.
I once met a scientist who said a lot of science types he knows got their jobs by first offering to volunteer for a job for a few months at their dream workplace. This lets the place get to know that you are smart and reliable. Actually people at my work have been hired that way too. Just a thought. Let me know if I can do anything.
